IP based Server Migrations with SanXfer 3.1
AUSTIN, Texas – September 27, 2011 – InQuinox announces the SanXfer 3.1 release which greatly simplifies the process of moving servers over IP networks, from Physical to Virtual (P2V) or from Physical to Physical (P2P). SanXfer 3.1 provides the option of migrating servers via a Fibre Channel SAN or over an IP network, regardless of the vendors involved.
"While most of our customers have utilized our SAN based migration method, they asked us to support IP as a good portion of their migrations would be easier via an IP network" said Brad Hargett, InQuinox’s CEO. "SanXfer now offers our customers another cost-effective alternative for server migration."
Whether local-boot, SAN-boot or VMDK file migrations are desired, SanXfer directly modifies the underlying drivers within the Operating System, as opposed to resorting to a laborious and time-consuming backup/restore or risky replication processes.
"No other vendor offers this type of functionality, where a local-boot server can be moved to new hardware within minutes. Standard alternatives take hours to days to complete because they involve backup/recovery or slow replication operations to complete the task" stated Mitchell Mikula, InQuinox VP Software Engineering.
Our customers have confirmed that NOT all servers can be migrated into a virtual setting, and for Disaster Recovery (DR) scenarios, SanXfer provides a simple process for server migrations between DR sites, while guaranteeing server hardware independence. Customers can possess any server vendor brands and remain confident that their applications will quickly be available at the remote site.
In addition to server migration, SanXfer’s Data TranXfer feature migrates data between Fibre Channel networks and iSCSI networks, thereby covering all possible options for SMB and Enterprise data transfer requirements.
The SanXfer Editions provide value on multiple levels including hardware independence, dramatically reduced deployment schedules, simplicity, consolidation, and scalability. InQuinox also provides the SanXfer ROI utility that proves the operational expense savings achieved with SanXfer versus other migration methods. Contact us for details.
