SD3 is the first purpose-built appliance for Symantec NetBackup users who want to utilize deduplication technology in data centers and remote offices to minimize their data storage footprint and save on energy and maintenance costs. SD3 simplifies the deployment of a unified hardware and software solution for NetBackup Deduplication, providing a high-performance, scalable, ready-to-use, and green deduplication solution, where none existed.
Designed to deliver predictable and consistent high-end deduplication performance by experts in NetBackup software and deduplication technology, SD3 outperforms the competition better than 8:1 in benchmark tests.
Remote Office and Data Center support
The SD3 product line includes models designed for both remote office environments and data centers of any size.
- SD3 Model 2000 – All-in-one 1U rack mount or desktop system for remote offices and small to medium business with 1.3 TB of useable local storage capacity.
- SD3 Model 3000 – All-in-one 3U entry-level data center system suitable for small remote data centers and small to medium business with 4 TB usable local storage capacity, expandable to 32 TB.
- SD3 Model 5000 – Mid-level modular system for large enterprise data centers featuring 32 TB of usable local storage capacity, expandable to 96 TB.
- SD3 Model 6000 – High-capacity modular data center system for large enterprises equipped with 96 TB and higher* usable local storage capacity.
*Maximum capacity currently supported by Symantec is 192 TB.
SD3 Appliance Options
- Ruggedized Systems – SD3 can be ruggedized to withstand dramatic temperature variations, strong vibrations and high altitude by special order.
- HA Systems – SD3 Models 5000 and 6000 are available as high availability (HA) systems, and are fully integrated, pre-installed and pre-configured with Veritas Cluster Server (VCS).
