Every Kilometer Counts: Enhancing Waste Collection through Data

Friday, April 25, 2025, I will be presenting at the VVSG’s learning network session titled “Elke kilometer telt: Datagedreven keuzes voor een efficiëntere afvalophaling.” This session focuses on how data-driven strategies can significantly improve the efficiency of waste collection services.​ Drawing from my doctoral research at KU Leuven and my practical experience in developing optimization algorithms for waste management, I’ll share insights on how municipalities and intercommunal organizations can leverage data to make informed decisions. The goal is to demonstrate how analytical tools can lead to more efficient routing, better resource allocation, and overall improved service delivery in waste collection.​
